Seed Operations Assistant (Seasonal, potential for full-time)

Wallace Seeds is a leading seed farm located near Pilot Mound, MB. We are dedicated to producing high-quality seeds that drive agricultural success. Our commitment to our customers has made us a trusted source for seed in Manitoba and beyond. Having farmed in the Pilot Mound area for 5 generations, Joe and the rest of the crew have lots of experience with what works in our area. This position is seasonal (April – August or April – October) with the potential for full-time employment based on performance and business needs.
Job Description
- Assist with planting, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting crops.
- Load trucks with seed
- Assist in the treating of seed with fungicide and insecticide seed treatments
- General yard maintenance
- Assist with seed plant and farm equipment maintenance
- Assist with cleaning of bins, seed plant and farm equipment
- Pickup of seed, chemical, fertilizer at various crop retailers
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Other tasks as required
Requirements
- Prior experience in agriculture or farming is an asset
- Operation of large trucks and farm machinery not required but is an asset
- Knowledge of seed production and farm equipment is an asset
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and team player
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs / 22.5 kg)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Organized
- High school diploma
- Class 5 Drivers’ License, with a clean record
- Able to put in long hours during Seeding (April – June) and Harvest (August – October)
